Red Line
The Red line is the primary subway line serving Cambridge. Stops within the city include, from west to east, Alewife, Davis (in Somerville), Porter, Harvard, Central and Kendall/MIT. Trains run regularly throughout the day, starting at approximately 5:15 a.m. weekdays and Saturdays, 6 a.m. on Sundays, and at intervals of ten to 14 minutes (except during rush hour, when trains run every seven or eight minutes), until approximately 12:15 a.m. the following morning. The current fare on the Red Line is $1.70 with a CharlieCard or $2 with a CharlieTicket.
Green Line
The Lechmere station on the green line is also located in Cambridge, near the CambridgeSide Galleria mall. The Green line servicing Cambridge has cars every ten minutes on weekdays and Sundays (five or six minutes during rush hour and Saturday during the day), starting at 5:41 a.m. (6:37 on Sundays) with the last trip from Lechmere into Boston at approximately 12:30 a.m. the following morning. Cambridge Green Line stops include Lechmere and Museum of Science. The fare is the same as the Red Line.
Commuter Rail
The Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line also operates out of Porter Square and additional Commuter Rail service is accessible at North and South Stations in Boston. Outbound Commuter Rail Line trains are scheduled through Porter Square station starting at 7:37 a.m. Inbound train departures vary based on the location. The last outbound train from North Station leaves Porter Square at 8:55 p.m. Fares vary depending on destination and point of origin.

Over 30 local bus routes serve Cambridge. Most buses cost $1.25 with a CharlieCard or $1.50 with a CharlieTicket/cash-on-board.

There is a Cambridge exit off of Interstate 93, a major north-south route.
From the West
The Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) is the major east/west route connecting Cambridge to the I-128 and I-495 belts. Cambridge is accessible at the Allston/Brighton interchange on I-90, also referred to as the Mass Pike.
From Greater Boston
The principle driving routes to/from Cambridge are State Routes 2 (Memorial Drive), 2A (Massachusetts Avenue), 16 and 28.
